Actually I want to laugh... This is so funny... The narrator of this website is definitely MBA -- and more imaginative than me, despite I am a novelist! We all know what's going in down there ^_^

Romantic Sydney Getaway

Dear 91.3, Tourism Australia and 20th Century Fox,

Thank you for the truly Romantic Sydney Getaway. My romance blossoms because of thee…

On Day 1, you sent us up to do the BridgeClimb. What a lovely sight to tell the world that I love my boyfriend!

Ooh did I mention that the view from Four Seasons Hotel Sydney was magnificent? Take a peek…

On Day 2, we had dinner at Summit Restaurant. We were awed by the view and the foods presented to us were beautifully delicious. Just look at it…

Yunisa's starter
cold smoked "petuna" ocean trout served warm signature dish
black pepper oil, poached eggs, brioche butter toast, champagne cream broth

Yunisa's main
riverina lamb "two ways"
claypot lamb shoulder "ravioli" , roasted short "rack", poached then roasted cherries, black cherry treacle, sweet onion paste

On Day 3, Fantastic Aussie Tours awed us in the gigantic presence of Blue Mountain and we sipped a cup of tea at Bygone Beautys to enjoy the beauty of the scenic place.

We were then led to a cave adventure (and you can hear my heart beat for him) at Jenolan Caves. What a beauty…

We went to The Edge Cinema to know more about Mother Nature and we thought our love was vast…

After experiencing nature and its wonder, we laid our head at York Fairmont Resort. I let you peek our room…

You told us that our spirit will be refreshed at Scenic World and Echo Point. I'm glad it was true! Did I mention the friendly service of Tread Lightly Eco Tours?
Check out the pictures below.

On our last day, we pledged our love with a sunset cruise on Sydney Harbour with Eastsail… but it rained. We believe Nature was sad with us as we had to leave on the very next day. Sydney Harbour was breath-taking…

Thank you Tourism Australia, 20th Century Fox and Radio91.3 for this Romantic Sydney Getaway. I hope he will bring me there again *hint hint* :)

Mampir di radio Aditya FM Pekanbaru

Pertama datang, bawa cokelat n mau pamer novels hehe - can you believe that I was actually quite in a bad mood??? Demi pose di blog, harus pasang senyum no matter what!
23 January 2009

Well, well, well...
That is what I learn. No cover up here, I just spill the beans out, tanpa tedeng aling-aling lagi.

Welcome to Pekanbaru, Yun -- that was what Pak Harry said. Lain ladang, lain belalang; lain lubuk, lain ikannya. Beda daerah, beda adat / behaviournya.

Sampai akhirnya, saya samperin aja radionya setelah sarapan (Jumat, 23 Jan 09). Waktu itu saya bilang ke geng saya (Kak Rus, Mag, adikku Riana): just drop the chocolate, if there is no warm reception alias gak ada sambutan, kita cabut aja. For the sake of courtesy dulu aku udah janji bakal drop by ke Aditya FM kalau aku ke Pekanbaru... Syukur-syukur bisa ketemu Robby or Nadine. If not, ya udah deh, bye-bye aja...

Rupanya Tuhan mendengarkan keluhan saya. Robby ada di kantor. HOREEEE!!! Semua yang kacau jadi membaik... I am quite pleased about that :)
Robby nanya dikit soal acara promo Schoolaholic sorenya, dan berjanji datang abis dia siaran. Lalu dia bilang masih penasaran sama novel Sakura Bersemi di Yokohama ^_^

Voila, segalanya berubah! Dengan ramah dan apologetic Robby menjelaskan masalahnya - next time better contact him directly - dan ternyata Penerbit Andi cabang Riau menghubungi bagian marketing - itulah mengapa tidak ada respons --> because you don't contact the right person.
It's a matter of whom you know, still...

Akhir, fokus ke kamera ini

Pose akhir, Yunisa sudah ceria lagi hehehe

Bertemu Papa dan Mama di KoKi
Yunisa - Singapura

Waduh, judulnya nggak nguatin yah...

Yunisa

----------
kisah makan di resto Padang.. aku habis separo piring, Yun habis sepiring. Terus acara berlayar di teluk Rushcutters, pas hujan deres, mana aku nggak bisa berenang lagi..

Makan malam di sushi-train, selesainya aku ajak nginep di rumahku tapi nggak mau.. alasannya? Yun perlu salonpas, aku nggak ada stock, hihi... Pokok'e mesti sedia salonpas kalo mau kopdar sama Yun wis..

Sydney darling harbour
kata : 300
oleh : surgana

Pengarang : Yunisa

The good news is cuma tinggal satu biji doang novelnya (ayo replenishment nya)

Thank you, Ariana!

--------------------
Nama-nama tokohnya bagus terutama Kumalasari. Selamat menyongsong Tahun Baru 2009.
Posted by: Ariana Selasa, 30 Desember 2008 15:20 WIB

Yunisa, akhir cerita bikin penasaran terutama pas Kumalasari ke SDB melihat ada cincin nikahnya, hehehe sampai saya balik ke bagian awal cerita lagi, tapi yang penting happppy ending.

Voting Sydney or Denis?

Yunisa, hehehe saya dukung Kumalasari ke S deh, pilih yang aman setelah tahu jalan cerita akhirnya, kalau belum tahu akhir ceritanya mungkin pilih D, sebenarnya yang hebat itu, pengarangnya.
Posted by: Ariana Selasa, 30 Desember 2008 16:12 WIB

Well, actually I didn't mean to ask the reader to vote, tapi so far semua pembaca berkomentar tentang pilihan masing-masing. Ibu-ibu alumna SMA Stella Duce 1 pada maruk basically, mau dua-duanya HAHAHA
My married best friends: Venny, she chose Sydney because she said Denis is boring (karena selera, karakter, apa aja kok kompak sama Kumalasari). While Dee, she chose Denis because marrying a man who loves you more is the right thing to do (menikah dengan pria yang lebih mencintaimu adalah hal benar yang harus dilakukan). While Rurun, she didn't tell me which one she chose, but she said to my other best friend (who hasn't read this novel): how can Yunisa think about such complication on marriage although she is not married yet? LOL. My best friend in Singapore, Magda, she said, if she is using logic, she will choose Denis, if she is using her heart, she will choose Sydney. Nahhhhh

Sampai sekarang masih penasaran kenapa Yunisa pemikirannya sudah matang padahal belum menikah HAHAHA... Well, nobody wants to be me - socially conscious of parents' social status and obligations :) One thing I know, if I decide to marry someone, I will have no regret marrying that man.

Diiklankan di KoKi oleh Juwi

Saat ini saya sedang membaca dua novel. Satu dalam bahasa Inggris dengan judul "Hit" karangan Tara Moss dan satu lagi novel berbahasa Indonesia berjudul "Sydney Darling Harbour" karya Yunisa.

http://community.kompas.com/read/artikel/1741

Nah itu KoKi edisi 3 Desember 2008...

So tired...

OK, I owe Radio 91.3FM the photos from my Sydney trip. They have called me this morning.

I am currently sorting all photos and will need to resize first before sending the photos to them by tomorrow morning... I did scanning and rotating hundred photos since yesterday wee hours.

Been working till midnight in the office starting on Day 1 back to the office *_* Jetlag? Yes! 12 mid nite SGT is 3 am Aussie time. WHOAAAA... Basically my body is screaming... And the bruises I got from the BridgeClimb -- I think my parents will scream as well, just like what my sisters, friends and colleagues did when they saw the big bruises.

Even my activity partner in Sydney shares the same sentiment about our crazy packed work schedule when I sent him the BridgeClimb photos.

Seems everyone is busy at the moment… I am extremely busy too at the moment…. Too much to do.

And not to forget that tomorrow afternoon I will be flying off to Jakarta (4 Dec). I have an appointment (postponed before) with two people in Femina on Friday (5 Dec). Femina is a top women magazine in Indonesia... After that, I will be flying off to my hometown, Yogyakarta to prepare the novels promotion. I have a radio interview and two autograph sessions lining up on 12 and 13 December in Gramedia Plaza Ambarukmo and Gramedia Sudirman, respectively. My publisher's promoter asked me to call her regarding Schoolaholic Princess trilogy Q&A as it will be my first ever meeting my readers... I never did this in the past. Yes, I did few radio interviews, but never really meeting my readers...

Just a few points of my busy schedule...
XOXO

Slide Show: Yunisa's Last Day in Sydney

Day 6: Sydney Tower

The route I took is walking from Four Season, passing by Martin Place again to Sydney Tower, then planning to go to Hard Rock Cafe via Hyde Park. I didn't know that Hard Rock Cafe Sydney has closed down in 2007... :(
George Street was closed (no cars whatsoever) because of Christmas parade (the pedestrian precinct was so crowded, I have no patience to watch it!)

This is the centre stage of Martin Place where free concert is often held

Day 5: Sailing

When I write sunset cruise, I imagine that I just sit and relax, no need to do any physical activity (menarik layar, misalnya). I expect the sun will shine and change colour beautifully. The fact I faced was disappointing. It was cloudy, raining (so the boat was uncomfortable, and you need to do some physical exercise to get the boat moving!)

I think, Sydney malls really have beautiful Christmas trees, and the design is similar from year to year, unlike Singapore -- I think 2006 was pretty, but 2007 and 2008 were ugly.

Slide Show: Blue Mountain Day 2

Day 4: Bush walking in Blue Mountain

Eco nature walk (3 hrs) including a light lunch at Wentworth Falls with hotel transfers and a qualified ecological guide with Tread Lightly Eco Tours.
www.treadlightly.com.au

Tim Tranter was the guide. His cell is iPhone and was curious when I checked my Viewty (LG) phone. It was raining when I waited for him at Three Sisters Point bus stop.

Tread Lightly eco tours provide international visitors with Advanced Ecotourism Accredited bush walks and 4wd tours. Their qualified ecological guides are specialists in the environmental and the cultural aspects of the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park. All tours are an educational and sensory experience with full emphasis on minimal impact best practice. Each tour is tailored made to suit client needs and expectations. Visitors explore a sensory experience in ancient rainforests, deep canyons, amazing waterfalls and views. The World Heritage wilderness accentuates their interpretive ecological experience.
--------------------
Blue Mountain has a self-surviving ability that other area seldom has. It is very old by geology (before dinosaur time) and people have climbed (and got lost) since mid 1800! Nowadays, the satelite technology (thanks to cell phone) can be used for tracking missing hikers.

Well, as for me, I am not an athletic girl at all. In fact, for the past few months, I have been chained to stare Excel spreadsheet, MS Powerpoint for >300 hours a month!

Thanks to Greg, who wrote that he loved adventure -- never thought about the possibility that adventure is equal to hiking (or in Australian term, bush walking), I was put into a serious stamina and physical torture of my life... 3-hour "easy" hiking -- which is not that easy at all for me as it was raining for hours before we started hiking and the muddy, the slippery route... (I still prefer the small mountain I hiked with my best friend in Jeju in 2007).

And at the end of the route, I had to stop for few minutes to catch my breath...
Can you keep up, baby girl -- I lose my breath... (Beyonce mode: ON)
These photos are for Kak Rus ^_^ the real hiker in my circle of friends!

This burnt forest can renew itself in 3 months! (around 100 days) - can be used for Twilight shooting huh? -- the vampires will appear out of nowhere...

Day 4: Blue Mountain - 3 sisters etc

It was raining on and off on the second day I spent in Blue Mountain. The first part of the itinerary was OK... The Scenic World despite the wetness (rhythm of the rain n windy). Let the pictures speak for themselves! I just felt that I am so small, God is so great!
Scenic World
1 Violet Street, Katoomba
http://www.scenicworld.com.au/
Experience the World Heritage Listed National Park from the three different attractions.

Scenic World, less than two hours from Sydney, is one of the most popular privately owned tourist attractions in Australia. Located at Katoomba on the edge of a 200 metre cliff overlooking the Three Sisters, the attraction comprises three exciting rides: The Scenic Railway, the world’s steepest incline railway, The Scenic Skyway, a cable car ride over the spectacular Jamison Valley, 200 metres above the valley floor and The new Sceniscender, Australia’s steepest cable car ride, a 545 metre ride into previously inaccessible parts of the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains.
Opened in late 2002 is Scenic World’s Boardwalk. This elevated boardwalk winds through the temperate rainforest and gives visitors and unparalleled feel for the Blue Mountains. The 390 metre section between the two bottom stations is wheelchair accessible, via the Sceniscender. The southern loop of the boardwalk forms a 1.5 kilometre circuit starting near the mine and finishing at the Sceniscender bottom station. Stroll along the walkway throughout towering Jurassic rainforest and refresh both your spirit and soul.

Day 3: The Edge Cinema & York Fairmont Resort

The Edge Cinema

225 Great Western Highway, Katoomba
http://www.edgecinema.com.au/

The Edge Movie - adventure and discovery in the Blue Mountains Wilderness on a Giant Six Storey High Cinema Screen. This documentary film explores raging waters, early colonial settlement, underground caves, aboriginal history and the world's oldest living trees species, the Wollemi Pine. Students will gain an insight into the geographical evolution of this World Heritage Area and the management practices that have been put in place to protect the flora and fauna on the Blue Mountains for future generations to enjoy.

Actually the cinema was under renovation (till mid Dec 08) since it's quite old (since 1996). Not as big as the one in Singapore Science Centre, IMO. The movie was OK, you see what the nature has to offer. Wilderness. Before the movie started, I sipped a cup of hot choc. It tasted so good due to the cold weather plus the styrofoam??? LOL.

York Fairmont Resort
1 Sublime Point Road, Leura NSW 2780
www.fairmontresort.com.au
2 nights accommodation including Breakfast

York Fairmont Resort is a 4 1/2 star Resort located in the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains. The location is perfect, only minutes from all the attractions of the Blue Mountains and five minutes from Katoomba’s sightseeing including the world famous Three Sisters and Scenic World. York Fairmont Resort is a comfortable 90 minutes drive from the Sydney’s CBD and airport and is easily accessed by rail and car.

-- Actually the one way journey took 3 hours, not 90 minutes!!! Greg is correct! It is in the middle of "nowhere"... without a car, you can't reach this place. Even the bus is only once a day...

Well, in my personal standard, I don't classify this as 4*, the building is quite old, the dinner menu is so limited... but because of the tiring activity, I didn't really bother. I just feel -- I enjoy Indonesia mountains more because of the food! HAHAHA plus, no physical activities that will tire me so muchhh...

Day 3: Jenolan Cave

Jenolan Caves – The Orient Cave tour
http://www.jenolancaves.org.au/

Average inspection time: 1½ hour
Length: 470 metres
Number of stair steps: 358
Fitness level: average

'Fun!' 'Awesome!' 'Unbelievable!' 'Magical!' These are words you will use to describe Jenolan Caves to your friends. On any visit to Australia (the Blue Mountains of New South Wales), Jenolan Caves is an experience you should not miss. Regarded as Australia’s most outstanding cave system – with 11 spectacular show caves, pure underground rivers and amazing formations – Jenolan Caves is among the finest and oldest cave systems in the world.
The temperature was humid, around 15 degrees. Dunno why, my face got so oily... I will remember this as the orange cave - oxydized limestone (batu kapur terkena oksidasi jutaan tahun).

Initially, nobody was interested in posing with the stone. But near the end of the tour, some started to pose, so I followed :P

Entrance. Phew, hiking 15-mins steep steps to reach this door!

I feel very small... I am nothing compared to this awesomeness...

Day 3: Detour by the driver

Day 2: Australia the movie

Greater Union Gold Class, 4 George Street, Sydney
http://www.greaterunion.com.au/
It was the first time I caught a movie in Gold class (and in January 10, 2009, I caught The Dutchess - Gold class for free again in GV Vivocity, Singapore - a courtesy of Twining tea)
I love the business class seat! In Sydney, there was no blanket. In Singapore, they provide a blanket for each seat!

I got Gold Class Bar Vouchers AUD 150 to spend... after a full dinner??? Too bad both of us don't drink... We share a plate of seafood platter, banana smoothies for me and Coke for him. I pass the rest of the voucher to him ^_^
Greg was asleep most of the time (he was very tired after the BridgeClimb and clients meeting in the afternoon), he was awake when the food came LOL. The smell of the seafood -- kayak adikku aja hehe, bangun kalau bau makanan!

It was dark and I would like to savour the calamari (not as good as my expectation -- too salty and overdone). Greg lit his cell phone every time I wanted to grab the food so that I could see which one is calamari, which one is prawn, which one is fish... It was so nice of him -- actually I don't mind munching in the dark though LOL.

Well, although we have no relationship at all, I enjoyed his accompany throughout the packed itinerary! Except for one thing: on the way to the cinema, Greg left me outside a convenience store... I thought he was going to buy some sweets for his sore throat... but he bought something else that I hate *sorry, Greg! I have complained to your aunt about this* It would be better if he restrained himself for that particular thing.

The movie was not bad, I laughed few times -- and commented some in Bahasa Indonesia -- sometimes Greg replied my comments haha *chatterbox - saya ceriwis*

The movie finished at 12:20am; both of us were darn tired. I almost could not walk anymore. So Greg hailed a cab for me -- cross finger that the cab driver would not mind the short distance, while he was walking home -- it is nearer for him rather than he sent me first to the hotel. I just don't want to trouble him.

Day 2: Dinner @ Summit

Well, I was so tired after Day 1: BridgeClimb, Day 2: my own adventure (Opera House, Sydney Aquarium, Sydney Wildlife @ Darling Harbour, then back to Opera House around 4.15pm).
I texted Greg that I needed to shower after such hectic activities -- he kept calling me (gak suka nih diteror sampai di mana kamu - as I have to read the map and count the blocks from Four Season Hotel). I made him wait for me at the lobby of Australia Square as it is nearer to his office. He was still in his work attire, black suit, white long-sleeve shirt and tie. Hoho. I was in my black dress (Madonna for H&M, bought in New York) and red coat (Esprit, belongs to my sister, bought in Hong Kong).

Greg was very informative and explained a lot of things about Sydney in general. I enjoyed dining with him, the same feeling with other friends and Papa di KoKi - Ki Ageng Similikithi aka Dr Budiono Santoso. Well, well, I think my communication skills work well with a lot of people.
Personal Note: this is not the first time I dine in a romantic setting with a guy... Plenty have tried and I have given them chances... but no guy has managed to charm me so far. Well, it is so unfortunate that I am not romantic at all by default!

Day 2: Sydney Opera House (inside): The Architecture

You can only go inside the Opera House if you buy the tour or ticket to the show.
Shell effect inside the ceiling
See the joint concrete above

Can't take the picture inside the concert hall, so I bought the post card. The ceiling to floor distance is 25 metres, and accoustics standard

Tiles positioning to create the colorful illusion. Imported tiles.

Day 2: Sydney Opera House Inside Tour

It was a tiring day. Hailing a cab is difficult in Sydney. I spent too much time in Darling Harbour (Sydney Aquarium + Wildlife), and had to rush back to Opera House for the tour at 4.30 pm. The tour lasted about an hour.
sekitar 200 anak tangga, gak secapek manjat jembatan kemarin
Difotoin sama bule cewek Amerika, udah tua, tapi baik hati ^_^
CBD kelihatan dari Opera House
Jembatan juga kelihatan dari dalam Opera House

Day 2: Sydney Aquarium (2) - Underwater

Posing while moving (ban berjalan)
My shoes - Nike sneakers that get praises from Hong Kong, Singapore to Sydney!
Plenty sharks
Muka ikan parinya ramah ^_^ Friendly but still deadly stingray
Crowded - giant shark
Scarry shark - Shark's Tale is happening in Sydney Aquarium
This is definitely better than Sentosa's Underwater World because the sharks are well-fed!

Day 2: Sydney Aquarium (1): Miniatures & Small Fish

There are a lot of miniatures of Great Barrier Reef, sea from Sydney Bridge and Opera House... plus colorful fish. I like Sydney Aquarium better than the Sydney Wildlife World ^_^

Day 2: Wildlife - Reptile (4)

Again, I don't really like reptiles. So I skip most of it except yang bersifat penyamaran - bunglon - agen rahasia 007.
Pantulan di kaca

Patung sejenis biawak?

Agent Cody Bank -- undercover

Seperti Bond, James Bond 007 beraksi menempel di batang pohon

Secret agent in action menakut-nakuti anak kecil di sebelahku

Day 2: Wildlife (3): Spider n Insects

Serangga berkaki 10 (boneka)
Semut masuk kuping

Spiderman paling berbahaya di dunia

Kecoak paling gede sedunia

Day 2: Wildlife (2) Koala n Wombat

Other Aussie signature animals - koala and wombat... imut2 semua!

Since the wombats are zzzzz, and difficult to spot, I decided to take a picture of the statue haha. Little wombat di atas karpet...
This is the back side of a koala... alias pantat koala!!! (sexy gak? iseng mode: ON!!!)

Cute koala, zzz all day long, karena kurang gizi (berpuluh2 kilo daun Eucalyptus = 150 g steak)

Yunisa gak mau bau2 sama koala, jadi narsis jarak jauh aja

Day 2: Sydney Wildlife (1) - Kangaroo

I need to take some pic with Aussie animals, so I came to Sydney Wildlife World in Darling Harbour.
$7 coin photo -- hiks kedip -- I was blinking
With giant kangaroo statue -- taken by fellow tourist ^_^

Kangaroo showcase (glass border)

Up close with kangaroo

Day 2: Sydney Opera House (outside)

I walked about 20 minutes ++ from Four Season to Opera House passing the Circular Quay. Nice, quiet stroll by myself.

Yunisa posing in Sydney Opera House (standard pose)

Yunisa posing in between the "shells"
This pose was taken by an American man -- when I approached him and his wife -- could you take my picture in between the shells? They laughed and said, oh you want an unsual picture!

Standard pose in front of the bridge.
This is the speedy jetboat

Well, there is a funny story involving why I can get myself a standard pose with The Bridge and Opera House. There were a pair of old Chinese couple. I told them in my super limited Mandarin, I'll help you two take picture! They were happy posing. Then, I told the husband: Help me take my picture! HAHA. Mutualism symbiotic. My Mandarin teacher should be proud of me coz I was able to recall some vocabs only for emergency needs.

Well, it is strange. Sometimes when I feel like helping tourists (Chinese speaking with zero English ability), suddenly my limited vocab appears in the tip of my tongue. My sisters were amazed and said that I was too kind. If they were me, they would have just ignored and would not take an initiative to tell them that they were Q-ing in a wrong lane. That is just only when I feel like doing something. Well, I have been a foreign tourist many times and fellow tourist or even the locals often help me, so better put some good karma by paying it forward!

Yunisa took a pic of somebody who was taking pics of the birds in a late afternoon

Day 2: Sydney from the sea (via ferry)

This is my favorite thing-to-do in Sydney. Get into the ferry and enjoy Sydney from the sea. My starting point was Circular Quay -- Sydney Harbour, heading to Darling Harbour, where Sydney Aquarium and Wildlife are located.
Narsis di atas ferry

Slide Show: Yunisa @ Sydney Day 1

Day 1: Sydney Bridge Climb

Pictures tell a thousand words. Well, it's been my dream to climb the Sydney Bridge. Of course this itinerary is unacceptable for my parents, so in 2003 I prayed that if someday, I am in Sydney again, I'm gonna climb the bridge!

For sure this activity is not popular for Asian, especially Indonesian, regardless whether they are young or old hahaha. In fact, you climb 2 hours + (an hour for simulation)

BridgeClimb
5 Cumberland Street, The Rocks NSW 2000
www.bridgeclimb.com

BridgeClimb is Sydney's multi award winning tourist attraction, taking Climbers to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge during a three and a half hour adventure. Climbers will experience the satisfaction and exhilaration of reaching the summit of this Australian Icon, as the city and harbour opens out in 360-degree before them.

Greg, Juwita's nephew has been kind enough and very accommodating by accompanying me in this first physical torture... You know, to reach the starting point of the BridgeClimb, you really need to climb a steep hill.

I got two big bruises on my knees which only fade within 2 months from the BridgeClimb!!!
After the climb, we headed to Circular Quay 24-hour cafe because Greg was hungry (I was too tired to be hungry!)

It took several clicks to get the correct camera setting (sigh, I was their experiment bunny)

Day 1: Hotel and surrounding

Four Seasons Hotel Sydney
199 George Street, Sydney, NSW 2000
www.fourseasons.com/sydney

Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. Stunningly situated overlooking Sydney Harbour in the historic Rocks district, a short walk from the city's shopping and business centres, Four Seasons is vibrant and elegant, with dramatic harbourfront views and a luxurious day spa featuring exclusive skincare and aromatherapy treatments.

"Sydney's swishest hotel is the Four Seasons ...it is certainly the best-positioned place to stay -- the views across to the Opera House are jaw-dropping and it's just a stone's throw from the harbour." Irish Independent, April 5, 2008

--> Personalized greeting card with ugly handwriting from Four Season Sydney haha
Dear Ms Gunawan

Welcome to Sydney + Four Seasons
Congratulations on being the lucky winner in The Radio 91.3 promotion - sounds like a great trip!
Hope you enjoy your time here + don't hesitate to call if we can be of help in any way.

Jeff Crowe
Director of Marketing

Touching down, I took a nap for 3 hours since I've not been sleeping due to office work (and economy class with fat passengers nearby -- very difficult to zzzz). Then, I took a walk to Circular Quay and The Rocks. Four Season is quite strategic -- attraction is within walking distance. The Rocks is an old part of Sydney where the immigrants settled down initially...

Then 5 pm, Greg called me to start our adventure in climbing the bridge. He did not know the starting point, so I have to use the map given + the marking I found when strolling around The Rocks.

This was what I missed from Australia: fluffy hot chocolate
The chocolate pancake on the rock - I forgot how big Australian portion is!!!

SIN-SYD flight: Mon 24 Nov 08

OK, the flight was delayed by 1 hour. Actually I didn't want to trouble anyone. I am a big girl, I have been traveling around the world on my own. I have been to Sydney before. But Juwi certainly asked him to pick me up LOL.

Homosexuality - by Rev David Burke, ORPC

Homosexual behaviour is sin because it is against the God's 'nature of nature'.
Lev 18:22 Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable
Rom 1:27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion
1 Cor 6:9-10 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Our sexuality is a good gift of God. But like all good gifts, it can be put to sinful uses when driven by our fallen nature. Because our sexuality is so powerful, it does greater damage when misused.

While homosexual behaviour is sin, it is no worse than other sexual sins. Along with them, it draws God's judgement if it continues. It draws God's grace if it is confessed and repented with faith.

Rejection of God's rule is the root problem, not homosexual actions or other sinful behaviours. We are all sinners and strugglers at one point or another.

Interview with Aditya FM

Sorry, I am late in updating. Actually I had a tele-interview (I called in to the radio) with Aditya FM Pekanbaru (87.6FM) last Tuesday, 11 Nov 08. It was a morning show with Nadine and Robby.
The recording will be e-mailed to me soon. I will upload it to my multiply and give the link here (to be updated)

Well, we talked a lot about my first novel Sakura Bersemi di Yokohama, my life in Singapore -- whether it affects my writing hobby (oh yes! definitely working full-time with clocking 300 hours a month to plenty projects really makes me unable to write any fiction...) And one of the audiences asked me when Schoolaholic Princess Trilogy will come to Pekanbaru... And I was teased a lot because I killed the favorite male lead in my first novel HAHAHAH... Not so much talk about this Sydney Darling Harbour novel though :(

I will be off to Sydney soon (thanks to this novel) -- I won a quiz of Romantic Sydney Getaway from 91.3FM (a radio in Singapore) from 24-30 Nov.

PS: I will drop by in Aditya FM next January 2009 and hold a novels promo in Gramedia Pekanbaru.

Hore, Tante Johanna suka :D

 src=

(Tante Johanna Wulansari, Singapore)

Hehehe, bagian Fisika Kuantum ya bikin bingung? *tebakan sok yakin*

Monday, November 10, 2008

Kenapa lebih tipis?

Oh well, bear in mind, Yunisa, when you write, you always imagine whether this novel will be TV series or a movie, and it will affect the length of the story you write. And that is your answer when your friend ask you: oh, why is Sydney Darling Harbour thinner than Sakura Bersemi di Yokohama ?

Yeah, tadi waktu Yoyo tanya kok novel Sydney Darling Harbour lebih tipis dari novel pertamaku, jawabannya emang karena waktu nulis novel Sakura, aku membayangkan itu bakal dijadikan serial TV, jadi mesti panjang... sementara waktu nulis novel Sydney, aku membayangkan bakal dijadikan film bioskop hehehe, jadi lebih pendek, tokoh lebih sedikit.

*daya khayal tinggi*

Dari Pembaca: Mimpi?

 src=
Yunisa aku udah beli dan udah baca Sydney Darling Harbour..
whaa sippp.. bagus bu
... dari awal baca GRAFIK nya naik' terus, sampai peak nya .. ternyataaaaa.... (CENSORED)

..aku seneng pas baca bagian " pada masa sulitnya Kumala akhirnya Sydney menghubungi Kumala lagi ...pdhal udah sempat loss contact..

bagian itu aku senenggg bgt.. haha...asthough too gud 2 b true gitu ya...(doesn't matter meskipun ternyata itu MIMPI while she's "unconscious" )

Justina Marhadi, fellow Stece alumnus, between Jakarta-Batam-Singapore

------------------------

Anyway, let the reader interpret themselves... I keep it open... but actually it's Quantum Physics, really!

Tanya dulu sama pengarangnya hehehehe

Cover scan + general update

OK, I forgot to scan the real book... It's pocket size, very light. I have sent it to Pak Janto Marzuki in Stockholm - Sweden yesterday and my aunt in Hong Kong... I am meeting Dr Budiono San... (Ki AS darling) this Friday night, after his conference opening in Singapore (save postage)... and hopefully Juwita in Sydney on the last week of November (save postage).

Oh yeah, I hope Dee (my best friend who was just married last weekend) does not forget to collect this novel in our best friend's home in Jakarta (they live in nearby neighbourhood).

Magda has finished reading. And after our discussion, she knows that I always write a super woman character with my good values -- this is something to sell to the media, Pak Harry once told me. He felt that most of the time, I was not selling this good point of my writing style.

Pak Harry is arranging my interview with Aditya FM, a radio in Pekanbaru latest by next week.
Hore, akhirnya wawancara radio lagi...
My meeting with Femina magazine was cancelled because of traffic jam and flood last Monday in Jakarta highway...

scan of front cover

scan of back cover

Headache... Sydney trip...

*headache*
First of all, I don't have any male friends who are free on 24 Nov - 2 Dec.
Second, Juwita in Sydney has provided me a partner there (it was confirmed yesterday night), which according to my best friend after I showed them his photo -- is quite good looking. (hahaha, Juwi tau aja deh).

Oh well, I prefer to spend all the romantic time with a handsome man of course! (every girl will agree with me). I hope the sponsor can understand. 1 air tix only for me is enough IMO. The quality time matters more... rather than spending time "in romance" with an ugly guy...

Plus my two sisters will fly together with me... My parents will pay for them.

Worst scenario, this trip will be cancelled. My parents said, ya udah kalau gitu... sementara anaknya ini merasa sia-sia menang lomba. If this prize is forfeited, I will feel very disappointed. Come on, I want to see Juwi! I want to see Hugh Jackman... I want to climb Sydney Bridge...

I won a trip to Sydney (91.3 FM and Tourism Australia)

This morning I received a call. First I thought it was a cheesy pick up line from a guy (after I said I am good, he said: How if I can make you feel better) -- maklum pikiran kriminal, I watch Criminal Mind too much, so I thought this guy is trying to get me on a blind date, FYI free dinner is not necessarily making me feel better HAHAHA, but then a female voice joins the conversation... I thought: this sounds like a radio... and why they are talking about climbing bridge... It is supposed to be my pledge when in 2003 parents refused my itinerary to climb the Sydney Bridge...

The rest is history. My entry wins. Still in AWE state. How can I win this? Climb the Sydney Bridge, sunset cruise, candlelight dinner under the star before catching a performance in Sydney Opera House is so standard in my way of writing romance.

PS: No worries, my future husband, I am not a romantic person. I am just researching too much drama for my novels, so - as long as you provide the unlimited credit limit for card for me, definitely I will turn your fantasy into reality. Good food, good sight, good company. Result assured.

Quantum Physics vs. Pragmatism Reincarnation

Nggak sabar nunggu Pak Harry nulis resensinya.

Paling dipajang doang kayak novel pertamaku LOL.

The fastest reader ever: Venny!

Today my package from Lulu has finally reached my best friend in LA. And Venny was so excited so she literally asked me not to disturb her (usually we chat via MSN) so that she can finish at least half of Sydney Darling Harbour. In the end, in less than 3 hours, she finished the whole book!
Venny: This book is worth filming.
Me: The characters are not a lot (compared to my first novel)
Venny: Yes, this is very interesting. This novel is so different from Sakura... The plot inside is very good.
Me: This is about time as fourth dimension in physics. The author is twisted. LOL. I cut 1 chapter because my sisters said: Sis, are you writing a novel or a physics book? -- that chapter is really about TIME as a DIMENSION.
Venny: See, you include science in this novel!
After a few more discussion about the male characters (oh well only 2 male main characters) that I shan't reveal here (or the readers of this blog will slam me of spoiling)...
Venny: You should write the second sequel!!!
Me: No way, I have plenty other ideas for my other novels that I haven't written.
Oh well, in short, I think I need to get this novel translated to English, so that I can reach broader readers...

Interesting Points in this novel

Yesterday Mr Harry Suhartanto asked me about this novel, a preparation before he starts reading, of course. That question surprised me, but again, my answer surprised him further.

Kemarin Pak Harry nanya aku tentang isi novel ini, persiapan sebelum dia baca (kan dia mau bikin resensi ke koran hehe). Pertanyaannya bikin aku kaget, tapi seperti biasa, jawabanku lebih bikin dia kaget :D

When I wrote this novel (rough draft in 2004), I remember vividly that my friend, Johan Prawira Gozali told me: Yun, are you sure you want to write this? (he wasn't sure whether Indonesian market is ready for this kind of thing). But then, I still wrote it... and it is sold few years after I completed the manuscript.

This is a crazy project of a girl who was just facing her Quarter Life crisis (I was just graduated from my MBA that time). I asked myself:
  1. a girl who has been pursued by many men will always ask herself: if I marry a wrong man, can I go back to the past and pick another man?
  2. domestic violence, e.g. marital rape, parental view vs. Gen Y's view
  3. how if your husband is homosexual? and you can't divorce him...
  4. how if after all of the above, your first love comes back to you??? (if you come back, Blue boyband's song hehehhe)
  5. how if time travel or time paradox trully exists???

(if you come back, lagunya Blue hehe)

Happy End or Sad End?

Wokeh, lagi semangat nge-blog di sini. Kemarin sahabat saya di LA (Venny) tanya, maksudnya minta sedikit "bocoran" aka spoiler tentang novel ini.
"Yun, happy end nggak? Soalnya gw gak suka yang gak happy end!"

Oh well, Ven, I also like a happy ending.

(please click that link to my English article in Kompas Komunitas / KoKi). Jadi tau sendiri deh, I was not in my best mood to create a cheery atmosphere in my writings. Plus, waktu itu saya lagi rada depresi, identity crisis: what's next after getting my Masters degree? so I weighed all my options a lot with "what if" scenarios. More or less, it is reflected in the gloomy aura of this novel.

However, yes... this is a however... I always want a happy ending for the hero and heroine. Hence, as I told to Venny, this is not a spoiler of the story though.

YES, IT HAS A HAPPY ENDING FOR THE PROTAGONISTS. But again, happiness is relative from which perspective you see the case. *Duh, siap-siap ngabur ah, ntar ditimpuki orang-orang lagi kayak kasus ending-nya my first novel: Sakura Bersemi di Yokohama.

The past influenced what happens in the present time, but remember, you still have the future to discover! There is only one YOU in THIS PRESENT TIME, THIS DIMENSION, no matter what happened.

Tetap semangat!!! Ganbatte! Jia you! Way to go!!!

Time Paradox

Time Paradox is a pretty complicated physics theory. When I wrote Sydney Darling Harbour, I was fascinated with the idea of time travel. If I go back to the past and kill my grandfather, then I won't be born in the future and I cannot do the time travel to murder him in the past.

Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox explores the same theory I used in Sydney Darling Harbour. The past must not be changed so that the present stays as what it is.

One lesson though, the difference between Artemis Fowl technology and my novel: there must only be one ME in one TIME. There can't be two same Kumalasari in the same time. Keep this in mind when you are reading Sydney Darling Harbour later!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bingung nggak?? HEHE.

Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox mengeksplorasi teori yang sama, yang saya gunakan di Sydney Darling Harbour.

*Strategic in action*

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Duhhh...

aduh mbak... kemaren pas aku pulang, kayaknya udah difilmkan... gimana dunk? duh...

That one line is AN OUCCCHHHH.

Ah, besok deh, will check again with Cupid.

Blurb, rewritten

I think the current one is definitely too long. This one is better :D

----
Two wedding proposals in one night. Only one was chosen. When the marriage is on the rock, the presence of the other man who was not chosen, makes Kumalasari hope that she is given a chance to re-read her life book. She is curious what if she chose the different path, will the story end differently? Or will it end the same because there is a thing called fate? In an accident, Kumala sees herself five years ago and the next five years. And everything is no longer the same...

Panel Review for Cover

I never let my own opinion dictate everything, especially about the cover. So I always ask my sisters, some of my best friends, and selected VIPs for their opinion. Untuk cover Sydney Darling ini, saya mendapat pakar baru, kenalan dari KoKi (Kolom Kita / Komunitas Kompas), namanya Pak Janto Marzuki di Stockholm, Swedia. (Panggilnya Pak Yanto, ejaan lama bercampur baru, kayak Dr Dede Sutedja). Senang sekali bahwa saya sekarang sudah secure one expert for eyeballing my cover design (and future novels' cover design as well).

Kenapa saya bilang begitu? OK, lesson learnt. Next novel, I won't bother to include him into the panel review for my covers!
Note: Even Dr Dede replied my text message and apologized that he is out of town (means he is abroad) so he can't check his e-mail.

My sister Mayrinna is correct. All the high powered people are always humble...

  1. Suhu Josh Chen - Jakarta
  2. Juwita Setiono - Sydney
  3. Pak Janto Marzuki - Stockholm
  4. Ki Ageng Similikithi (Dr BS) - Manila (sekarang lagi di Quebec, Canada) -- surprise, surprise, Ki actually replied me this morning, with a clear tone of romantism hahahah, as always

Peer Review - Sg based
  1. Magdalena Tiopan (ini cocok buat ngetes selera feminin)
  2. Jemmy Soenjaya (can't imagine the world without the "23 September" mata serangga)
  3. My sisters: Riana Dewi & Mayrinna Dewi (dua ini wajib baca isi sebelum kukirim ke penerbit hehe, satu mata serangga, satu mata selera pasar)
  4. Tante Johanna Wulansari (pakar Bahasa Indonesia beneran nih, tadi reply-nya cepet banget oii)
  6. Dr Dede Sutedja (sekarang lagi out of Sg for a week, if he were here, pasti aku nggak usah begging to know his opinion, unlike what Leo Santana did to me!)
  • Leo Santana (last one, won't ask him anymore, peti kupret - aku dianggap apa tuh, sampe harus nguber pendapat dia. Tak sudi lagi di masa depan!)

In the US -- but her siblings are in Sg

  1. Venny Cendana (hiks tadi telat kirim, di LA udah jam 11 malem)

Peers based in Indonesia (Yogyakarta tercinta)

  1. My best friend Andriani with not unusual eye... (komentar awam kadang emang diperlukan). Either she will stay in Batam or will she go back to Yk?
  2. Adik kelas SMP whom I never met but always maintain contact, dik David Sentanu, with more criticism on the blurb hahaha =D

Cover (first look)

from kisah cupid
to Yunisa
date Jul 29, 2008 12:28 PM

mbak,
ini covernya...

nita
Jl. Wahid Hasyim Gg. Menur No. 75
Condong Catur, Depok, Sleman, Jogja 55283
Telp. 0274 487 032

Udah masuk katalog

Phew, last night Pak Harry texted me. He found my name (Yunisa) on Gramedia's catalogue in Pekanbaru, but there is no stock available.

Ya benar, buku "Darling" -- kalau nggak salah judulnya diganti Sydney, Darling Harbour-- sudah masuk katalog Gramedia, tapi stoknya nggak ada...
So I checked with Cupid just now. Catalogue first, next they can send the books to the stores.
Ternyata emang prosesnya mereka masukin katalog dulu biar nanti tinggal kirim bukunya.

Song: Guilty (by Blue)

This song is played by someone when calling Kumala to tell her a suspicion about her husband...

I wanna give you all the things you never had
Don't try to tell me how he treats you isn't bad
I need you back in my life
I never wanted just to be the other guy
I never wanted to live a lie

Girl, I followed my heart
Followed the truth
Right from the start it led me to you
Please don't leave me this way
I'm guilty now all I have to say

video

Song: Sorry seems to be the hardest word

Lagu terkenal Elton John & Blue. Dilanjutkan dengan All Rise - si Blue...

This is the first song used by Kumala husband to apologize... Famous song by Elton John & Blue. Continued by All Rise of Blue boyband.

What I got to do to make you love me?
What I got to do to make you care?
What do I do when lightning strikes me?
And I wake to find that you're not there?

What I got to do to make you want me?
What I got to do to be heard?
What do I say when it’s all over?
Sorry seems to be the hardest word…

It's sad, so sad
It's a sad, sad situation
And it's getting more and more absurd
It's so sad so sad
Why can't we talk it over?
Oh it seems to me

Sorry seems to be the hardest word…

video

Song: All Rise (Blue)

This is the second song used by Kumala's husband to apologize.

Your honour please
Gotta believe what I say
What I will tell
Happened just the other day
I must confess
Cos I've had about enough
I need your help
Got to make this here thing stop

video

Song: From the bottom of my broken heart (Britney Spears)

Lagu patah hatinya Kumala nih... Di awal-awal cerita...

You were my first love, you were my true love
From the first kisses to the very last rose
From the bottom of my broken heart
Even though time may find me somebody new
You were my real love, I never knew love
Till there was you

video

Song: (Somebody) save me - Remy Zero

Lagu yang mengikuti lagu Rihanna S.O.S, meluncur begitu saja dari i-Pod Kumala, seakan mengetahui jeritan hatinya... jeritan meminta pertolongan Superman (weleh, kayak Smallville aja)

Somebody save me
Let your waters break right through
Somebody save me
I don't care how you do it
Just save, save, come on
I've been waiting for you

video

Song: S.O.S (Rihanna)

S.O.S. please someone help me
It's not healthy... for me to feel this way
Y.O.U. are making this hard,
You got me tossing and turning and can't sleep at night

video

Song: You Make Me Wanna (Blue)

There is a scene, when the main lead was on the phone, the caller played this song (page no. will be updated)

You make me wanna call you in the middle of the night.
You make me wanna hold you till the morning light.
You make me wanna love, you make me wanna fall.
You make me wanna surrender my soul.

I know this is a feeling that I just can’t fight.
You’re the first and last thing on my mind.
You make me wanna love, you make me wanna fall.
You make me wanna surrender my soul.

The Starting Ideas

This story was originally written in 2004. The idea of this story was started when an ex TOFI 2nd batch (Physics Olympic Team from Indonesia), Jemmy, one of my good friends from NUS, told me about physics theory of "TIME" (although I have simplified a lot in this novel, of course, and I have cut off one full chapter that creates headache, said my sis).
Then there was a friend who told me a true story of a male subordinate. They have been married for decades, they have two grown-up children, but then the husband told his wife that he just realized that he is gay and he wants a divorce. My friend asked me what if I am in the position of the wife... Oh well, the couple is not Indonesian, by the way.
(Speaking of which this type of story can also be found in recent new column @ Kompas.com called Love Talk).
These are few of "heavy" topics that can be found in this novel...
-----------------------------------

Author's Photo for this novel

This is what I submitted for Author's Profile for Sydney, Darling Harbour. Hmm, not sure which of 5 books will come out first. By then, I need to revise the write up for my profile on each respective book!
I thought Schoolaholic Trilogy will come out first. But I don't know.

Bingung ah...
Kayaknya Schoolaholic Trilogy akan nongol duluan, tapi gak tau deh...

Make up: Shiseido, Bugis, Singapore
Gaya: tatapan Oetz yang menggoda (meniru adikku yang paling kecil) wakakaka
PS: Seneng deh, Juwita bilang aku keliatan ayu di foto buat back cover ini hihi

Sinopsis

Hidup memang penuh pilihan.

----------
Life is full of choices. Just like the story book we read when we were small: Choose Your Own Adventure. Unlike in that story book, where we can re-read and pick another choice that we didn't pick at first, in life we never know what will happen if we choose the other choice.
When the plot of the story is not what we have hoped for, will you want to go back to the past and choose a different path? Maybe we will fall in a better plot? Or will it appear other problems so that the end result will still be the same, no matter which path we choose?
Kumalasari, a Chemical Engineer, received two marriage proposal in a night. The first one was from Dr Sydney Kristanto, her first love who re-appears after disappearing for five years. The second was from Denis Lee, her activity friend in the past 2 years in Sydney.
Many controversial problems fell upon Kumala's married life (who will be her husband? hehehe). At that time, the other man's presence (which one?) made Kumala hope to be given a chance to re-read her book of life. She's curious how if she chose different path, will the story end differently? Or will it be still the same because of what is called as fate?
In an accident, Kumala saw herself five years ago and five years in the future. And everything is never the same...

contract signed

----
Cupid Publisher will publish this manuscript of mine. The background is in Sydney, I wrote this long time ago, near the time when I graduated from my masters degree :D
